This was going to be a showcase, but creating this portfolio has helped me discover all the unfinished aspects of each of my projects. Now, it is instead a catalogue, a) to showcase my work, and b) as a project tracker to develop my project management skills.

Leaf Tech is the second-ever font that I made as a digital & installable font file. Thus, it does not feature any NewEng letters, and it is not well-formed. However, it does feature full support for Vietnamese.

### Consonants

<details>

<summary>Diacritics — UPPERcase, double layer</summary>

"Double layer" means that some languages combine two diacritics onto the same letter. This poses some challenges in font design: diacritic shape, diacritic size, diacritic positioning, combined positioning; letter kerning alterations; line-height.&#x20;

### Vowels

### Consonants

In NewEng, double-layer diacritiqued consonants include: S̈̌  Ç̌  Ẍ̌ &#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
update October 2025: I have recently learned how to use FontLab and diacritic anchors are WAY easier in there so I'll rebuild all of this stuff in the future if\* & when I do a remake of Leaf Tech.&#x20;

\*("if" because I'm not sure if I even like this font tbh.)

To Do

### Further development

* common diacritics
* NewEng letters
* NewEng diacritics
* Dozenal numbers
* add a few more ligature glyphs

### Fixes

* fix up diacritics for Vietnamese
* improve kerning
* improve ligatures with more-customised glyph variants for legibility

### Variants

* different line thicknesses for vertical and horizontal strokes
* light-weighted variant with different stroke thicknesses
* heavy-weighted font variant
* italicized
* serifized
* more-organic one — this current typeface is very geometric, and only simple at that.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://grphc.gitbook.io/phlowyd-design/portfolio/font-design/leaf-tech.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
